Gymnastics gave Samantha freedom to strut her athletic physique front and center. It was natural for her to take that same approach to the fitness stage! My mother influenced my healthy lifestyle at a young age. She took me to the gym and enrolled me in a variety of sports until I found one that fit. My dad is extremely athletic as well. He's well-known for his accomplishments in baseball and basketball during high school and college.

In honor of one of our favorite events of the Summer Olympic Games, Teen Vogue has tapped the experts to put together a week of workouts inspired by gymnastics. This week, we're featuring workouts from fitness expert Nicole Chaplin that will help increase your strength, flexibility, balance, agility, endurance, and control, all important in the world of gymnastics. These moves target the quads, hamstrings, glutes, and calves while engaging the back muscles by acting as stabilizers. By strengthening the lower body, this helps with proper positioning and transitions from one movement to another. Having strong legs enables the gymnast to power through the routine and have enough force to explode especially on the floor and vault events.
